Your Trusted Health Supplements Could be dangerous

Gary Null a New York known for his dietary products and supplements recently found that his body was poisoned by his own products.

Null used to take a supplement called Ultimate Power Meal which he himself developed. Some days ago he started suffering from fatigue, weakness, skin problems, and blood in his urine. Medical tests proved that the Vitamin D levels in Null’s blood were very dangerously high. Null was shocked to hear this, how could his formulated supplement have such high dose of Vitamin D?

The high Vitamin D in Null’s supplement was due a manufacturing error. FDA has strict guidelines for manufacturers but dietary supplements do not came under the drugs category. Due to this DSHEA, the supplement manufacturer was under no obligation to seek FDA approval for its products. It also did not have to prove the stated content of the product. The ultimate result of this can be disastrous and it did in Null’s case.

After the manufacturing error came to his attention Null checked all of his other products. Millions of people rely on such supplements on the instructions of their doctors and dieticians; if such cases come up they will be affected the most. Hence it is advisable to ask the doctors what they are prescribing and what are the contents of the supplements, do they have any side effects etc. The manufacturers too should not take advantage of the freedom they have, the FDA rules need to be stricter and should also be applicable to supplement manufacturers so that Gary Null’s case is not repeated in future.
